Harry Potter…err..Hogwarts Legacy thoughts 10+ hours in
Harry Potter game is how literally everyone in my circle of people refers to this game. While it is not set in the time of Harry Potter, the nostalgia that the game brings makes calling it Harry Potter so fitting.
Playing the game for the first time and seeing the title card come after completing the initial gameplay to get to the intro, I legitimately felt like I was in the theaters about to watch a new Harry Potter movie with the same level of excitement and anticipation.
This game has been something I always hoped for, but only in my purview for the last year, in which I decided to buy a PS5 just so I could play this game. I wasn’t really into gaming before that, but seeing that initial trailer, I had high hopes, and man, those expectations have been exceeded.
I’ve been explaining this game to people not playing as a new Harry Potter film that is a part film and part pick-your-own adventure. But, I will note that without spoiling anything, my cousin pointed out that at the beginning of the game, you go from London to somewhere in Scotland, back to London, and back to Scotland. I honestly didn’t even realize, as I was so immersed in the game and what was going on, that the silliness did not even matter.
The pick-your-own adventure part seems truly real. So many people are playing the game in different ways, and there isn’t one single path, despite being a primary storyline. I’ve yet to understand the different endings, but that is because I am trying to avoid spoilers.
If you love the world of Harry Potter and want to have your own adventures in and around the castle, I highly recommend picking this up. Oh, and if you ever played any of the PC games in the past, there are some easter eggs to be found.
Keep tuned for future content on this game as I progress, and share what I think could be added (hint: quidditch).
